Crace Maternity Shoot April 10, 2019 by Lisa Fink

Susan is one of my best friends, so naturally, I was excited to take her maternity photos! I also may or may not have been crossing my fingers for the last couple of years that they would have a third baby. Sorry, not sorry, Susan! So, imagine my excitement when she also took me to this beautiful creek, after very casually telling me in an earlier conversation that she had a spot near her house that might work. Her kids know me well, so they greeted me at the door and were super willing to let me take photos of them while Susan finished getting ready. Side note: that awesome swing is on their back porch, and I swear if I lived there, I’d probably nap there way too often! So comfy!

This girl is always gorgeous, so it’s no shock to me that she really brought the blue dress from my client closet to life! And thankfully, she trusts me enough that she was up for getting in the water!

She’s nearing the end of her pregnancy, now, and I cannot wait to meet her sweet boy! I’ll be soaking up allllll the baby snuggles!

Flores Family Newborn Session March 30, 2019 by Lisa Fink

I won’t lie, I was super nervous going into this one! Newborns are something that I purposely didn’t take on for a bit, as I know what a massive undertaking they can be. I have wanted to do posed newborn shoots for a while, but there’s so much that goes into planning, preparing, and keeping a newborn safe during a session, and I wasn’t willing to take the risk of doing it wrong. So, after much preparation and hiring a mentor specifically trained in newborns, I stepped into the Flores home to take photos of their 3rd baby - a gorgeous, healthy boy! I could not have hand picked a better family for my first session! They were lovely! The older kids were fun, sweet, energetic, and not one bit camera shy, and mom and dad were welcoming, and warm! And big sister even lost a tooth during the session!

Thank you, Flores family, for your kindness, and for allowing me to capture Julian’s first days! It was truly an honor!

Day in the Life Session March 21, 2019 by Lisa Fink

This is one of my favorite sessions to date! I love the concept so much, and think it changes the game of family photography! One of my favorite photographers out of California offers this type of session, and after seeing her photos and reading her blog post about how she organized it, I was sold!

If you dread the thought of traditional family photos (the wrangling kids into their Sunday best, the groaning from your partner because they would rather be doing something - anything - else, and then trying to get everyone to look at the camera), then this is for you, my friend! The idea behind a Day in the Life session, is to capture things that you really do, moments you really enjoy, in locations that really are a part of your life. Like to hit up story time at the library with your toddlers? Day in the Life. Are you a Target and messy bun kinda mom (who isn’t?!)? Day in the Life. Park? Ice Cream? Baking? Day in the Life. Together, we choose a couple of activities to do over a 2-3 hour time slot, and then you and your family have fun and I capture the magic.

For this one, mom chose some playtime at home with her boys, a trip to feed the ducks at their neighborhood pond, and ice cream at a local shopping center with a great open green for the kids to play. It was such a blast! No meltdowns from toddlers, no coaxing fake smiles, just real, honest relationships amd happy kids! Each of the boys took the time to show me their favorite toys, and we even played chase after ice cream. The highlight for me? Getting a text afterwards from the mom, saying that the boys were sad that I didn’t go back home with them at the end!
